TRAIN operator Northern – which runs services on the Airedale line – has welcomed the suspension by the RMT union of planned strike action tomorrow, on Monday and Wednesday (November 5/7/9).
But the company warns that services tomorrow and on Monday will still be much reduced and the advice to passengers not to travel remains.
Northern's chief operating officer, Tricia Williams, says: "We welcome the news that the RMT has withdrawn its planned strike action.
“We can confirm that the much-reduced service strike timetable will still run on Saturday and Monday as the reintroduction of a timetable is complex and can take several days to do.
“We continue to advise customers not to travel on these days. We are working up a plan to run a fuller service on Wednesday – customers should visit our strike web page (northernrailway.co.uk/travel/strikes) for most up to date information."
