MEMBERS of one of the oldest angling clubs in Wharfedale have been busy planting spring bulbs next to the River Wharfe.
Following the donation of a large sack of daffodil bulbs by one of its members, the Appletreewick Barden and Burnsall Angling Club has planted bulbs in a copse close to Hebden suspension bridge, with the permission of the landowner.
Bulbs were also donated by the club to the Wharfedale Montessori School and to Burnsall Primary School to help the schools have good displays of spring flowers next year.
The Appletreewick, Barden and Burnsall Angling Club, established in 1873, is one of the oldest angling clubs in Wharfedale.
The club controls six miles of fishing water of prime brown trout and grayling fly fishing water on the River Wharfe from the stepping stones at Linton to Barden Bridge.
It also leases the fishing rights on the 57 acre Lower Barden Reservoir.
