AN outdoor adventure business set up by three Craven women during the Covid lockdown is moving from strength to strength and is now expanding into running retreats as well as selling ‘unique clobber’.
The Dip and Dales Co, based in Cross Hills, was set up in April 2021 by Keira Burns, Louise Redmond and Zoe Hall, all of who have a passion for the great outdoors.
The mainly online business, which started out as The Peachy Queen Company sells ‘sustainable and unique’ affordable clothing, such as warm coats to put on after a bracing outdoors swim, warm, woolly hats, leggings and hoodies and swimwear.
The three moved away from the gym and discovered they much preferred exercising in the outdoors.
“We quickly realised that all three of us love the outdoors more than we love the gym; hiking, dipping, swimming and adventuring is part of our everyday lives, particularly living in The Yorkshire Dales,” they say.
Keira, a mother of two, combines the business with her job as a community investment manager for a large housing association. Growing up in the Dales, she spent most weekends and holidays in the surrounding hills and moors, swimming in the rivers and falls. Louise runs a very successful personal training online fitness, health, and well-being business and is a qualified mountain leader.
The third member of the team, Zoe, is a qualified physical education teacher who has worked all over the world, leading PE departments in promoting healthy and active lifestyles for young people. Her main passions are, playing hockey, jumping into waterfalls, and travelling.
Keira said: “We provide sustainable, practical and unique clobber. Everything you’d need for a good hike or wild swim.
“We sell mostly online and have built up a large and loyal UK following.
“All our gear is sourced ethically and with quality in mind - we try and test everything ourselves - but we are super proud of our gorgeous swimwear which is designed in Yorkshire and manufactured using recycled plastics.
“We run events, meet-ups and in 2023 will host our first retreat.”
