SKIPTON man Jason Millward fought driving rain and strong winds to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest on moorland close to where he lives to raise funds for cat charities.
Starting in the dark at 8am on Friday, Jason ran up and down Skipton Moor a total of 45 times, a distance of more than 80 miles and a climb of 8,848m – the equivalent height of Everest.
And, despite having to take a break in the early hours of Saturday morning, because of the awful weather conditions, he completed his 'Everesting' challenge within 24 hours, raising more than £1,500 for Bradford Cat Watch and Rescue, Harrogate Cat Rescue and Pink Paws Cat Rescue.
He said: "I've followed and supported these charities for years. I couldn't choose one so I've decided to raise money for all three and split it equally."
His Crowdfunder page: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/everesting-for-cats closes today (Monday), after which donations can still be made directly to the cat charities.
