A 40-YEAR old woman has been sent to prison for 16 weeks for assaulting a security guard at Skipton Morrisons and for stealing two bottles of Champagne.
Emma Fleming, of Duckett Street, Skipton, was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court to eight weeks for the assault by beating of security guard, Sahban Younis, at the store on November 3, last year.
Fleming was also sentenced to a further six weeks in prison for the theft from the store on the same day of a £47 bottle of Moet Rose Non Vintage (NT) Champagne, and a £41 bottle of Moet Rose Chandon Champagne.
The prison sentences will run consecutively - one after the other - and she will also have to pay a surcharge of £158.
Magistrates, sentencing Fleming on January 9, said she had failed to express willingness to comply with a proposed requirement for a community order and had 'a flagrant disregard for people and their property'.
Fleming originally admitted both charges when she appeared at Skipton Magistrates Court on November 18. Sentencing was adjourned for reports to December 16. A warrant for her arrest was issued after she failed to turn up in court. She admitted failing to appear at the Skipton court when she appeared before Bradford magistrates on January 9, for which she received a further two weeks in prison.
