THE final meeting of Craven District Council provided the opportunity to thank citizens and organisations for their contributions to the distict.
Handing out the awards, Cllr Simon Myers said: "It is not an exhaustive list. It was very difficult for members to put their heads together to come up with names and organisations that in some way produced a balance across the district. To those that we haven't named, and everybody will think of those, we will kick ourselves for ever for the omissions, but we do give our most grateful thanks to all those who work tirelessly for their fellow human beings.

Honorary Alderman - Councillors Philp Barrett (30 years); Robert Heseltine (43 years); Davir Ireton (25 years); Eric Jaquin (21 years); Carl Lis ( 34 years) Stephen Place (26 years) Andy Solloway (21 years) Alan Sutcliffe (20 years).
Freedon of the District - Bruce Dinsmore - (posthumous award) for eminent services and his dedication to sports development during his 18 years as sports development officer for Craven District Council.
Roger Ingham - for fundraising over £150,000 for local good causes over the last 30 years and for his services to sport development in the district.
Major Marie Hickman - for services and dedication to the Salvation Army and fundraising for the people of Skipton and Craven.
Cave Rescue Organisation - for mountain and cave rescue duties and assisting in incidents of a public service nature.
Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association - For rescuing people and animals from caves, mineshafts, fells, crags of Wharfedale, Nidderdale, Littondale and Mid-Airedale.
Skipton rotary Club - for dedicated involvement with community and environmental projects around Craven.
Rotary Club of Skipton Craven - for dedication and support to the community in Skipton and surrounding villages.
Soroptimist International - Skipton in Craven - for services to improving the lives of Craven women and girls through service projects, fundraising and advocacy.
