AIRE Valley Young Farmers Club has donated £1,000 to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in after hosting a successful race night.
The sold-out event, which was held in Queensbury, saw people stake money on their chosen horses before cheering them on during the races.Tickets included hot food and the night closed with a raffle and charity auction.
In total £5,845.67 was raised, with £1,000 made to Manorlands Hospice, and to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Fiona Jowett, Club Secretary, said, "We were delighted to raise this money for such good causes and would like to thank all who attended and supported."
Andrew Wood, Manorlands community fundraising manager, said:"This was a brilliant event enjoyed by the local rural community and a credit to those involved. It was very kind of the members of Aire Valley YFC to select Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance to benefit from their success.
“The money raised will help us to continue to be there when it matters for people going through the most difficult times of their lives.”
