ARE you an emerging poet at the start of your writing career? Would you like the chance to develop your own commission and be mentored by an established poet?
Ilkley Literature Festival is searching for the 2023 apprentice poet in residence and would love to hear from you.
Sponsored by The Walter Swan Trust, this is an opportunity for an early career poet to create a new piece of work, inspired by the festival’s programme themes. You’ll get to perform at the festival, run a poetry/creative writing workshop for aspiring writers, and raise your profile through the association of a prestigious Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
Previous Apprentice Poets in Residence include Andrew McMillan - winner of a Guardian First Book Award; Mark Pajak, who went on to win a Northern Writer’s Award, an Eric Gregory Award and the Bridport Prize; Zodwa Nyoni – a Channel 4 Writer in Residence at West Yorkshire Playhouse; and Eric Gregory award winner Phoebe Power to name just a few.
Applications close Sunday June 4. For further information visit: www.ilkleylitfest.org.uk
