SKIPTON MP Julian Smith has welcomed today's announcement that Airedale Hospital is to be re-built as part of the Government's new hospital programme.
Airedale is one of five hospitals constructed mostly using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) which is now set to be rebuilt by 2030.
Mr Smith said: "This is an excellent announcement for Airedale Hospital, which is in urgent need to be rebuilt – to ensure that staff can continue to deliver lifesaving patient care, in a state-of-the-art and safe environment.
"I look forward to seeing the plans get underway."
