THE first Craven area committee meeting of the new North Yorkshire Council is due to take place on Thursday (June 1) in Skipton.
The Skipton and Ripon Area Constituency Committee, which will take place at Skipton Town Hall, is due to be attended by all nine Craven members of North Yorkshire Council, which replaced Craven District Council on April 1. The committee also includes seven Ripon area members and is chaired by Cllr Richard Foster, former leader of Craven District Council.
Items on the agenda include an update from Skipton and Ripon MP Julian Smith and an update on the council's economic strategy and also its tourism strategy. A series of events were held in May, including at Skipton Castle, to gather information and views from key organisations and enterprises involved in the tourism sector to develop the first countywide destination management plan.
Also on the agenda of the committee, which is set to be similar to the area meetings of the former North Yorkshire County Council, is a report on the county's Digital Demand Responsive Bus Service, and appointments to outside bodies.
Thursday's Skipton and Ripon Area Constituency Committee is due to take place at the education room of Skipton Town Hall at 10am.
