A PACKED Skipton High Street earlier today (Saturday) greeted a procession of bands, floats, classic cars and gymnasts for the town's sun-blessed gala.
Adults and children threw sweets at the crowds as the procession made it's way from the start in Westmorland Street up the High Street and along Gargrave Road to the gala field at Aireville Park.
Following the crowning of the gala queen, there was a performance by the Skipton All Stars Majorettes and singing by the Yorkshire Voices to kick off an afternoon of entertainment.
Over at Waddington's funfair, families queued for ice-cream and burgers as the entertainment continued and the temperature soared.
The gala, supported by Skipton Town Council, and run by a small committee of volunteers, will conclude later tonight with a firework display.
