BEST selling author Kate Mosse will be in Threshfield later this month for the launch of her latest historical novel.

The award-winning novelist, playwright, essayist and non-fiction writer, whose books include Labyrinth and The Burning Chambers will be in conversation with Linda Furniss, owner of Grassington's The Stripey Badger bookshop.

Kate will read from The Ghost Ship, answer questions and sign copies at the afternoon event at The Gamekeepers Inn.

The book, inspired by the real-life story of 18th-century pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read, is the latest in Kate's Joubert family chronicles. It is described as an epic love story of concealed identity, piracy and revenge, of defiant women in a man’s world.

The author is founding director of the Women’s Prize for Fiction/Non-Fiction and of the global #WomanInHistory campaign.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, she is a Visiting Professor of Contemporary Fiction and Creative Writing at the University of Chichester and President of the Festival of Chichester.

The event will take place on Monday, July 17, between 2pm and 4pm at The Gamekeepers Inn, Threshfield.

Tickets for the event are £15 and include afternoon tea and a £5 discount off a copy of The Ghost Ship and are available from The Stripey Badger Bookshop www.thestripeybadger.co.uk
