A WELL-known Silsden couple who ran the newsagents in the town's Kirkgate for 26 years and which today still bears their name are celebrating 60 years of marriage.
John and Shirley Twigg will mark their diamond wedding anniversary today, Thursday, July 20.
They have lived in Silsden all their married life.
John owned and ran Twigg's Newsagents from 1963 until 1989, and is a former chair of the old Silsden Parish Council.
And Shirley was a Justice of the Peace for more than three decades, and served the Bradford, Bingley and Keighley areas.
They have three children - Andrew, Judith and Richard - eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
John and Shirley said about their forthcoming celebrations: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the town who has made us so very welcome over the past 60 years. Thank you and best wishes to all."
