THE Ingleton spirit shone through at this year’s gala which was enjoyed by everyone despite the less than perfect weather.

Held on the sports field behind the Ingleborough Community Centre, the emphasis for the day was on family fun which residents and visitors could enjoy and get involved in. Entertainment was provided with a village parade, a sports day and traditional competitions, stalls, food and drinks and lots more.

Gala committee girls Liz Holman, Sarah Procter, Helen Wilson, Kelly Robinson, and Beryl Morphet pulled out all the stops to make sure the show went with a swing.

The colourful parade led by the Giggleswick and Settle Brass band made its way around the village to the sports field where the gala queen Kathryn Robinson was crowned by the retiring queen Lilly Rucastle.

Kathryn's attendants were Lottie Sellers, Scarlett Stronach, Charlotte Wiggans, Matilda Hall, Isabel Swindlehurst, Otis Quinn, and page boy Charlie Nowell.

The Crowds were entertained by Professor Pumpernickel who performed his crazy science show in the Community Centre Hall.

The community ladies provided excellent tea and cakes and Ingleton Cricket club and Badminton Club laid on the BBQ.

There were many side games around the field for people to try their luck including the Ingleton in bloom guess the name and the very popular bottle tombola by the keep fit ladies, The scouts had a fabulous jousting game that involved the competitors to sit in a wheelbarrow, trying not to get a bucket of water tipped over them, most ended up quite wet, including some of the Gala girls and queen!

Wacky races were held for the children’s amusement and the ever-popular egg throwing competition took place later in the day and was eventually won by Ashley Unsworth and Liam Urray who managed to throw an impressive 27 metres.

The gala committee worked tirelessly all day, but would like to thank all those who helped make the day happen, from the sports field team and the community centre staff who helped set up and look after the field during the day, the marshalls who made sure the parade ran safety, All the stall holders and charity organisers who have helped donate to our village funds, those people who donated time to help erect marquees and the local businesses for donating their vehicles for the parade.

A committee member added: "Without these amazing individuals the event would not take place."
