A GROUP of 10 Wharfedale Rugby Club Under-16s players conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks with their coaches and received sponsorship for the achievement from Craven Farm Vets, Skipton, which will go towards the U-16s tour of Cornwall, in October.
Craven Farm Vet directors are no strangers to Rugby - Jonathan Stockton having played some years for Wharfedale, coached a team himself and his son now plays at the Avenue. The club noted how increasingly difficult it had become to fundraise post-Covid, especially now during a cost-of-living crisis, and it relied more and more on industry and its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The club added it was very grateful to Jonathan and his fellow directors for their support.
Future fundraising activities include a hot dog stall at Malham show, August 26; a car wash on September 2 with Grassington Fire Station when proceeds will be shared and a ducking stool at Kilnsey Show, August 29.
