A VILLAGE community centre is facing closure unless someone steps forward to take up the positions of treasurer and secretary.
Cross Hills Village Centre in Main Street, previously known as Cross Hills Rest Centre is at risk due to the impending retirement of the current treasurer and secretary.
A general meeting at 10.30am on Saturday, August 12 of the Cross Hills District Old Age Pensioners Association, which owns the building, will vote for the closure of the association and the building, unless the essential roles are filled.
A notice at the centre states that the meeting will consider and vote upon a committee resolution of July 10 which recommends the: "Dissolution of the association and following that, the closure of the building and to realise the property of the association, then after discharge of all liabilities shall divide the same equally amongst all members."
Long term member, Cynthia Apreda, said it would be a great loss if it closed. It is currently used for weekly coffee mornings, and is also used by the WI, by other groups and for meetings of the parish council.
