HSBC Bank is running six 'pop-up' sessions in Settle following the closure tomorrow (September 6) of its bank in the town.
A spokesperson for the bank says the pop-ups at the community library in Limestone View, Lower Greenfoot, will "help customers following the closure of its Settle branch".
The pop-ups will take place from 9.30am to 1pm on Friday September 22; Monday, October 2; Friday, October 27; Wednesday, November 8; Monday 27th November 27 and Wednesday, December 13.
The closure of HSBC in Settle means that the nearest branch of the bank is now in Clitheroe; Skipton HSBC closed in June.
HSBC says decisions to close branches are 'not taken lightly'. It adds: "'Making sure we have a sustainable branch network that is fit for the future is essential to us and in recent years, as more digital capability has been introduced, our customers are increasingly using online, mobile and telephone banking." It adds over the last five years use of the bank's branch network by regular customers has fallen by 65 per cent.
An HSBC Settle customer said: "As usual, elderly and less tech savvy are disenfranchised. North Craven always seems to miss out and its a lovely place to live, lots of new housing, yet diminishing facilities."
