NORTH Yorkshire Council says it is working with the owners of the closed Cross Keys pub at East Marton, near Skipton, after concerns about its condition were raised by the ward councillor for West Craven.
Cllr Andy Solloway has supported Martons Both Parish Council in calling for the pub, which has been closed since early 2020, and is a prominent location on the A59 in the village, to be tidied up.
A council spokesperson said: “We understand the issues empty properties can cause and we have been carrying out regular visits to assess the condition of The Cross Keys.
“Our officers are liaising closely with the management company responsible for the site who have promised to implement a programme of works to keep the exterior grounds clean, tidy and rubbish free.
“We are satisfied with the intent to improve the appearance of the site and will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that these works do happen and that the property doesn’t fall into a state of disrepair.”
