AWARD-winning author and illustrator Thomas Taylor paid a visit to Grassington Primary School where he talked to the children about his books and officially opened the school's new library.
Thomas, talked to the delighted children about his series of books, set in Eerie on Sea, and drew illustrations of creatures from pupils' scribbles; he also talked of his beach combing adventures that inspired the characters in his books and stories of mystery.
Claire Greenwood, one of the two co-executive head teachers of the Upper Wharfedale Primary Federation of schools, said all enjoyed Thomas's visit, which was arranged by The Stripey Badger book shop in Grassington.
She said: "Thomas also officially opened the new library. It was developed over the summer thanks to amazing fundraising efforts of the school PTA and thanks to local area grants and grants from Tesco, The Dales Market Square, Skipton Mechanics and other local businesses and residents.
"The school now has the most incredible space to relax in and be captivated by amazing stories."
The federation is made up of Grassington School, Cracoe and Rylstone, and Kettlewell.
