THE second War of the Roses truck run which set off from the Coniston Hotel and Spa on September 23 and eventually headed into Lancashire, was a resounding success with 70 vehicles helping raise money for British Heart Foundation.
Organiser Robert Wellock, from Barnoldswick, said: "Vehicles came from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Southern, South Western England and everywhere inbetween.
"On Friday night we all had supper at the Coniston Hotel. After a hearty breakfast on Saturday and a group photo the wagons were off.
"Over the weekend the route went over Blubber Houses, Darly, Ripley Castle, Ripon, Thirsk, Malton, Pickering and Thornton le Dale, Sutton Bank, Borough Bridge, Knarsborough, Harrogate and then over to Lancaster.
"Some diehards had a run round the Ribble Valley before returning to Coniston Hotel for a Sunday roast."
A raffle raised around £2,500 with a hope to boost that to at least £3,000 with the sale of pictures on memory sticks.
