PUPILS from Springfield School, in Earby, enjoyed a visit to the capital last week and even got to meet their Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson in the Houses of Commons.
The year 6 children, part of the school's newspaper team, wrote about their experience for the school news. They visited many tourist attractions including the Tower of London. They listened to a parliamentary debate when they met Mr Stephenson and then walked to Downing Street and met Larry the Downing Street cat.
In the evening they enjoyed a meal at the Musical Theatre Café, Covent Garden, followed by a night at the theatre to watch Matilda. A walk-through St James’ Park to see Buckingham Palace, an open-top tour bus ride and boat trip down the Thames concluded their trip.
Oliver from year 6 said: ‘I really enjoyed watching Matilda. The performances by children our age were brilliant. Oh, and I loved the all you can eat buffet in Pizza Hut. I had eight slices of pizza!"
Head teacher Dawn Liversidge said: "The children had a wonderful time. They were enthusiastic throughout, asking questions in Parliament. They were a credit to the school."
