SKIPTON Town Hall will play host to Settle Stories' Yorkshire Festival of Story in November, with something to captivate audiences of all ages.

Over the weekend of Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12, there will be storytelling, comedy, music, poetry and book signing from some of the best storytellers and writers, performing live at the town hall as part of the annual two week festival, which will feature more than 40 events both online and in person.

On the Saturday, acclaimed story-teller, Sierra Leone's Usifu Jalloh, promises to immerse families in the warmth and vibrancy of Africa through songs, drumming, and the magic of storytelling.

Described as 'funny and engaging', it is a 'must-see' show for the whole family, promising an unforgettable experience.

Also on Saturday, Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman will present 'The Warlock Effect'. Playwright and author Jeremy Dyson, co-writer of the film Ghost Stories' and British actor, director, and magician, Andy Nyman, will discuss their latest novel, The Warlock Effect.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Festival of Story said: "Get ready for a twist-filled adventure that combines magic, espionage, and intrigue. A rare opportunity to meet these creative minds."

In the evening of the Saturday, Dame Marina Warner, historian, mythographer, and art critic, will be sharing her insights on the enduring power of storytelling, myths, and contemporary retelling.

Audiences will be invited to discover the connections between imagination, art, and societal impact.

On the Sunday, something for all the family - Pippi Longstocking. Sofie Miller brings the fearless adventurer Pippi to life, for audiences from four to 99 years old. Despite being a story that is 77 years old, Pippi, being a self-sufficient, independent and truthful girl who stands up against prejudice and authoritarianism, is more current than ever.

On the Sunday evening, Black Liver presents Miss Nobodies: A century of women's stories -one for adults, including storytelling, comedy, songs, and poetry.

Yorkshire Festival of Story is also taking place online from November 3 to November 19. Free online events include Buried Treasures: The Power of Political Fairy Tales with Jack Zipes, this year's guest director, and A Search for the American Dream with Nestor Gomez.

There are also talks and workshops such as 'in search of Yeti' with Andrew Benfield and Richard Horsey who will be in conversation with Settle Stories' Sita Brand. All online events will be available live and later on catch-up.
