GATES to the cemetery at Horton-in-Ribblesdale have been refurbished thanks to a joint fundraising effort between the parish council and the local ward councillor.
Cllr David Staveley, North Yorkshire Council member for Settle and Penyghent, joined members of Horton Parish Council and others to celebrate the gates being put back in place.
Ian Orton, parish clerk, said: "The gates to the cemetery in Horton-in-Ribblesdale were badly damaged several years ago. But a combination of fund raising from Cllr David Staveley of North Yorkshire Council and Horton Parish Council have put the refurbished gates back in place."
Cllr Staveley contributed some of his ward locality grant towards the refurbishment of the gates. Each North Yorkshire councillor is allocated £10,000 per year to spend on projects in their division. Cllr Staveley has also given a grant towards the refurbishment of Settle Cricket Pavilion.
