HAVE you heard the sound of a harp in concert? You have the chance on Saturday, December 9 when Skipton Choral Society performs its winter concert in Christ Church, Skipton.
The programme with something to suit everyone features Finzi’s little known but delightful 'In Terra Pax', written in 1954, and inspired by his hearing midnight bells ringing out across frosty Gloucestershire countryside. Then some of the ladies will sing Britten's 'Ceremony of Carols', accompanied just by the harp - a gorgeous piece composed in 1942.
The second half sees the choir perform a firm favourite: Rutter's 'Magnificat', first performed in 1990. This choral setting of the ancient canticle includes the beautiful ‘Of a Rose, a lovely Rose’.
The concert is at 7pm on December 9. Tickets are free for under-18s and £15 for everyone else. You can pay on the door, but to avoid disappointment, order in advance via tickets@skiptonchoralsociety.com or from TicketSource at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/skiptonchoral
