A SKIPTON driver must fork out nearly £1,000 in fines and costs after admitting speeding on the M1 motorway.
Samuel Potter, 48, admitted exceeding a 40 miles per hour variable speed limit when travelling northbound between junctions 30 to 31, at Rotherham, in a Ford Europe Index vehicle on March 30.
The speed recorded was 71mph.
Potter, of Grassington Road, was not present at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on December 4 when he was fined £640 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £256 and costs of £90.
His licence was endorsed with six points. He must pay the balance of £986 by January 1.
