RESIDENTS of Hebden and visitors will in future years be able to enjoy the fruits of a community orchard.
Over a recent Friday and Saturday, villagers, helped by Lee Johnson and team from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, together planted 40 fruit trees to create a community orchard in the village.
It was made possible thanks to a grant from Tarmac's Swinden Quarry, Linton.
Tarmac supports projects that will benefit the local community, through sponsorship and donations, either directly or through the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund.
To be eligible, project's must demonstrate long-term, sustainable benefit to the community or organisation in at least one of the following areas: Supporting local communities, education and employment, or environment and nature conservation.
