GARGRAVE Parish Council has agreed to pay for the maintenance for another three years of St Andrew's Church clock.
Councillors however at the monthly meeting held on Wednesday at the village hall agreed to tell the parish church it would not be responsible for the cost of any repairs that might be needed, and that any costs would have to be met by the church.
Councillors agreed to agree to a three-year contract after hearing it would cost the council £618 compared to £220 for one year. The meeting heard that a contract between the council and the church had been in place for 58 years.
Cllr Gregory Butt said it was nice to hear the church bells, whether you were a church-goer or not."
