HUNDREDS of people attended a fundraising event organised by Settle Rotary Club, raising nearly £2,000 for the district's struggling swimming pool.
Around 210 people took part in the club's annual 'merry-go-round' event which started off in Giggleswick School's dining hall for a drink and nibbles, before setting off on a three course meal with each course in one of nine of the area's pubs and restaurants.
The event also included a raffle at the start of the evening in Giggleswick School, with items donated by Settle and area businesses.
Rotarian, David Blackburne, said: "With all the different party sizes and groups going in different directions this made for a fun event that presented an opportunity for pubs and restaurants to impress a lot of customers on a quiet February night. Thanks to the generosity of these landlords and managers and everyone who supported on the night Rotary have raised close to £2,000 for Settle Swimming Pool."
Trustees of the swimming pool recently revealed it was in serious danger of closing because of increased energy bills.
