A BUILDING in the heart of Settle that was previously home to a longstanding Craven business is up for sale following the retirement last year of its owner.
The Garden Shed, on Kirkgate, next to The Victoria Hall, is being marketed by estate agent Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Settle office which is looking for offers of more than £130,000.
Extending to around 103 square metres, or 1,118 sq ft, the property’s ground floor offers a 'generous open space, office and toilet, with a second large open space on the first floor as well as a further office or storage room'. Outside there is further storage space or off-street parking area.
The building was previously part of Dugdales, which had been in Settle since 1906 supplying farming and electrical products, as well as installing bulk milk tanks and milk parlours on farms. The business used it as a hardware, garden products and pet supplies shop.
Part of Dugdales closed around 12 years ago when the owners retired, but The Garden Shed was leased to a new owner who retired last year.
Tom Galloway, who heads up Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Settle office, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to acquire an historic building in the heart of this popular Ribble Valley community and there is clear scope for a variety of alternative uses subject to the granting of necessary consents.
“It’s full of character with internal exposed stone and wooden beams, and the main rooms on the ground and first floor are both very spacious, at more than eight metres long and five metres wide.
“The property is already attracting a lot of interest, not least because it’s in a great location, right in the centre of Settle, with the town’s shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, market square and railway station very close by, which all adds to its appeal.”
Settle is ideally located for commuting to North and West Yorkshire, and the East Lancashire business centres, as well as the northern motorway network. The town has a bustling market square, a railway station on the famous Settle to Carlisle line, schools, a swimming pool, library, golf club, health centre and a wide range of recreational facilities.
The building is for sale for offers in excess of £130,000 with best and final offers invited by 1pm on Thursday, March 21. For more details and to arrange a viewing contact Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Settle office on 01729 823921 or visit www.dacres.co.uk
