THIS year's Olympic Games - due to take place in Paris in the summer - will be celebrated in style by Barnoldswick's primary schools.
Seven primary schools are set to take part in an Olympic torch relay in June which will see a torch made by the schoolchildren being carried to each of the schools in the group.
The torch will be made by children at Earby Springfield Primary School from where it will be taken by children to each of the schools in the group. It will remain at each school for a couple of days and after two weeks will finish its relay at the final school on June 20.
David Toddington, headteacher at Coates Lane Primary School, said it promised to be a fantastic celebration of this year's Olympics.
"At each torch handover, the children from both schools will have a chance to share a drink and biscuit together and connect with each other.
"Then, on June 24, all the children involved in the torch relay will congregate in Barnoldswick town square for a celebration event. Each school will present a short piece of information about the Olympics. Also, we hope to have a sports coach to lead a fitness activity plus other exciting things happening too."
The schools taking part are: Earby Springfield, Kelbrook, Salterforth, Barnoldswick CoE, Gisburn Road, Coates Lane, and St Joseph's.
