AN 83-year old man who suffered a medical episode while walking on the Dales Way path near Conistone Pie, Conistone with Kilnsey, on Saturday was transported to a waiting ambulance by a team of 20 fell rescue volunteers.
A spokesperson for the Grassington based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) said: "The team and a member of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service once on scene provided casualty care. Given the inclement conditions and potential risk of hypothermia, it was imperative we quickly extricated him back down the hill to the waiting ambulance.
"We send the gentleman our best wishes and hope he recovers quickly."
A team of 20 was involved in the rescue, which took two hours and five minutes, and was the fifth call out for UWFRA so far this year.
