IT was ‘Muck Chuck’ time again for Lawkland Young Farmers Club on what was a glorious day for the annual fund-raising event.
Multiple orders were received and delivered to gardens and allotments around Settle, Giggleswick, Lawkland, Austwick, Langcliffe, Stainforth and Hellifield.
Club members, ever-keen to spread the word – and the muck! – raised a fantastic £1,114, all helping to boost club funds, help pay affiliation fees and ensure members get the best out of the YFC movement.
A spokesperson said: “It really is a team effort. We must thank the Dugdale family, of Borrins Farm, Stackhouse, for again kindly giving us the ‘well rotted’ muck free of charge. This generosity is invaluable. A big thank you also to everyone who placed muck orders and to parents and members for helping out. Not only is the muck essential for gardens, but the day is also a great team-building exercise for the club.”
The Muck Chuck is an annual event on the last Sunday in February and is an important date for the diary for North Craven’s gardeners and growers.
Lawkland YFC meets weekly and the club is made up of 20 members all aged under 15, with valuable support from parents. Anyone interested in joining should ring 01423 546170. New members are always welcome.
