THE story of Settle, from its earliest days to its position today as a thriving market town, is the focus of Ingleborough Archaeology Group’s talk on Monday March 18.
Dr David Johnson, author and landscape archaeologist, will trace the history of the town over almost 1,000 years, using historical photographs and focusing on a series of themes including people, connections, commerce, faith and buildings.
Dr Johnson, the honorary president of Ingleborough Archaeology Group, is based in Craven and is the author of a number of books including “Settle – a historic market town.” Copies will be on sale at the talk for £5.
Future talks this year include: Hills of the Sun, Mountains of the Moon; Skipton Woods; Lancaster Canal; Caves and Landscapes of Ingleborough.
