WEST Craven councillors have said Barnoldswick Local History Society's archive should be given a permanent home in the town's library.
A meeting of the West Craven Committee in Barnoldswick heard that the archive was currently in temporary accommodation that was far from ideal.
Archivist Alan Roberts told the meeting that the archive, which included items dating back to 1780, and included postcards, photographs and pamphlets, was in the process of being digitally archived. Ideally, he said, it would have a permanent home where people would be able to work on it, and members of the public would also be able to visit it and carry out their own research.
Councillors agreed to ask Lancashire County Council and the library whether the archive could return to the library.
