A VETERINARY receptionist in South Craven is in the frame for one of the industry’s most prestigious awards.
Tina Jackson Woods, who works at Ashlands Veterinary Centre in Glusburn, is a finalist in the Petplan Veterinary Awards 2024 in recognition of her hard work and dedication to clients and colleagues.
Petplan received more than 38,000 nominations for its five awards which celebrate the outstanding veterinary teams and individuals who go above and beyond for pets and their owners.
Tina was one of just three people shortlisted for the Practice Support Staff of the Year category, having also reached the final in 2016 and 2018 thanks to numerous nominations from clients and colleagues as a tribute for her care and support for the clients and animals that come to the surgery.
An independent panel of judges from the industry selected the finalists, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in Manchester on Thursday, March, 21 marking the awards’ 25th anniversary.
Tina has worked at Ashlands Veterinary Centre for 14 years during which time she has become an AMTRA Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) and has taken her Veterinary Care Assistant qualification to be able to advise clients on matters like routine healthcare, including worming and vaccinations.
She said: “It’s lovely to be a finalist as it shows that clients appreciate what I do. I just love my job at Ashlands and the people I work with.
“I have been here 14 years and I know a lot of people. I know the animals they have and those they have lost. A lot of clients have become friends and I love helping them as much as I can.”
When not at the surgery, Tina keeps busy looking after her own pets, including her rescue Border Collie Skye.
Ashlands Vets also has branches in Ilkley and Skipton and is part of VetPartners, which includes veterinary businesses across the UK and Europe.
Ashlands practice manager Ben Ogden said: “The whole team is delighted for Tina who would be a very deserving winner of this award for all of her hard work and the support she gives to clients and their pets, as well as her colleagues.”
As well as Practice Support Staff of the Year, the Petplan Veterinary Awards has categories for Veterinary Practice of the Year, Vet of the Year, Vet Nurse of the Year and Practice Manager of the Year.
