POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an alleged burglary that happened at the closed Rackhams department store in Skipton.
Rear doors at the store, which has been closed since 2019, were forced and entry gained sometime in the early hours of today (Sunday).
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The rear doors were forced open and entry gained. It's believed this occurred in the early hours of Sunday (March 17)."
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on the non-emergency 101 number, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Quote police crime number 122 400 47343.
A planning application was recently lodged with North Yorkshire Council for the restoration and conversion of the High Street store into separate retail units.
