AN idea to set up a temporary winter ice rink in Skipton appear to have bitten the dust.
Former Skipton mayor Rick Judge asked for his idea to be put before councillors at last week's full council meeting.
But, after he failed to turn up, or send details of his proposal to officers, there was no discussion and mayor Sheila Bentley said the idea should be dropped.
It is the second time Cllr Judge has put forward the idea to the town council. When he was mayor in 2022 he suggested a temporary ice rink could be installed during the winter and would he believed would be very popular.
Officers did at the time investigate possibilities, looking at the council itself running a facility, or an outside body, and considered sites including next to the canal basin, and the car park behind Rackhams, but councillors at the time thought it would be too expensive and unlikely to attract enough people to make it viable.
