Bolton Abbey

Rector’s Message: The Sunday marks the beginning of Passiontide. Passiontide is the traditional English name for the fifth Sunday in Lent and marks the beginning of the two-week period before Easter Day. The title “Passiontide” reminds us that this season is primarily about the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. Over the next fortnight we will travel with Christ into Jerusalem and all the way to the cross. The good news however is that this period of suffering does not have the last say. This sombre period will also come to an end and our hearts can then rejoice in Christ’s resurrection. It is worth reminding ourselves to say that, however bleak things look in the world, Christ will eventually be triumphant.
