PLANS to convert a gym in Barnoldswick to a 'high end drinking establishment' have been lodged with Pendle Council.
Mark Hickey has applied to change the use of units one and two of Majestic Buildings on the corner of Albert Road and Fernlea Avenue, in the centre of town.
The former Majestic Picture House opened in 1914 and has a mock Tudor frontage. Before being a gym, it was a shop and a wine bar amongst being used as 'other functions' over the years.
A design and access statement with the proposal to the council states the bar will maintain the existing access from the pavement and there will be new CCTV cameras both inside and out to ensure safety of customers and the property.
Existing heritage assets will be retained, and any new proposals will be sympathetic to the building and the conservation area.
