DESPITE the recent wet and windy weather, members of Grassington and District Horticultural Society managed to produce 250 entries for the 42nd Spring Show last weekend.
Every class was well supported with a high standard of exhibits.
A spokesperson said: "The judges - David Allison for flowers, Jean Banks for flower arranging and Joan Middleton for baking and preserves - did an excellent job and the society extends warm thanks to them. Thanks also to the volunteers who made the day a success, the members who entered the various classes and the many visitors who came to enjoy the colourful spectacle."
Trophy winners:
The Cunningham Trophy for most points in show: Glenda Priestnall; The Bloomfield Cup for most points in flowers: Karen Darwin; The Society’s Tankard for the best exhibit in classes 1-14: Andrea Howard; The Twin Locks Garden Centre Trophy for the best exhibit in classes 16-21: Karen Darwin; The Society’s Rose Bowl for the most points in flower arranging: Sheila Carr; The Society’s Vase for the best exhibit in flower arranging: Sheila Carr; The Society’s Cup for the most points in baking: Karen Darwin; The Joan Bielby Salver for the most points in preserves: Philip Johnson; The Margaret Lockyer Award for the best orchid: Glenda Priestnall.
