A FEW early risers turned up at Settle Parish Church, Holy Ascension on Friday last week to wish the Rev Ian Greenhalgh and his son Tom the best of luck as they set off on their cycle ride to Ripon Cathedral.
Ian, a keen cyclist and runner, who celebrated his 75th birthday in January, was at the start of a two-day journey to Bradford Cathedral to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Leeds Anglican Diocese. The pair cycled 50 miles from Settle to Ripon on Friday; and on Saturday ran 25 miles along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal from Gargrave in time for an anniversary service at Bradford Cathedral.
Ian is raising money to support the work of churches in the Ewecross and Bowland Deanery, forms are available in church.
Ian and Tom were joined at Settle Parish Church by Rev Peter Greenwood from Bentham who cycled out of Settle with them.
