CCM Auctions conducted an on-farm dispersal sale at Owlet Hall, Austwick, on behalf of North Craven husband and wife, James and Deborah Ogden, who are retiring from active farming.
The sale, conducted by James’ brother Ted, livestock sales manager at Skipton Auction Mart, consisted of a well-presented range of tractors, telehandler, ATV, machinery and livestock equipment.
Multiple four-figure prices were seen, including a brace at five figures to a sale-topping £36,500 for a 2020 Wiederman Loadall and £24,000 for a 2007 New Holland tractor with loader. A 2021 Polaris Ranger UTV hit £7,500, a Krone Rake £5,900, £5,700 for a mobile sheep handling system, £4,000 for a 2021 Rota Spreader, £3,700 for a Forage Box, £2,600 for a tipping trailer and £2,500 for a 12ft livestock trailer.
Livestock equipment sold to £1,700 for mobile cattle gates and hurdles, while others hitting four figures were a £1,500 4ft Shear Grab, £1,200 for a cattle crush with scoop and £1,080 twice for 75ft sheep barriers. Livestock itself sold to £700 for Texel 2-shear rams.
The couple, who have successfully run their mixed livestock farm for many years, commented: “It’s the right time for us to come out of farming. Our boys have successful careers elsewhere and it’s now time for someone else to take the farm to the next level while we explore other opportunities.”
They personally thanked all who had supported the sale – a huge crowd of neighbours, friends and buyers, many who had travelled some distance from across the northern counties of England, together with successful bidders from Scotland and Ireland.
Future on-farm sales to be conducted by CCM are up-and-coming at Green Farm, Hellifield, on Tuesday, May 21, 1pm, an Aberdeen-Angus sale on behalf of David and Josh Isherwood’s award-winning pedigree herd in Kildwick, on Saturday, June 1, followed by a further farm sale at Hayhills Farm, Silsden, on Thursday, June 6.
