SKIPTON Girls High School has been given the go-ahead to demolish and replace a temporary double classroom at its site in Gargrave Road.

The replacement double classroom will measure 9.6metres by 12 metres and have a mono-pitch roof.

A North Yorkshire Council planning officer report states that the council's heritage consultant says that an alternative design would be preferable, but accepts the replacement building will be an improvement to the existing building and will be in a 'discrete' position with no public viewpoints.

The council has put conditions on the permission including the submission and approval of staining and protective finish of the cladding to prevent tarnishing.

Other applications recently approved by the council are: Removal and stump grind a group of Laburnum trees from the front of Carleton Village Hall, Swan Street, Carleton; proposed conservatory to the rear of 12 Alders Road, Skipton; erection of replacement sectional timber stables at land at Fold Bank Barn, Mewith Lane, Bentham; Proposed external alterations including lighting, signage and refurbish/replacement windows together with internal alterations at 9 Sheep Street, Skipton; Removal of 10 trees to the south of Ingleton Swimming Pool, The Square, Ingleton; extension of residential curtilage and proposed landscaping at Skylark, Woodgill Farm, Keasden Road Clapham
