SKIPTON'S commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day are due to get underway later today (Friday) with the lighting-up of the War Memorial and the town hall.
At 9pm, the memorial in front of Holy Trinity Church will be lit up with a projected silhouette image of a Second World War soldier, while Skipton Town Hall will be bathed in the colours of the Union Jack; red, white and blue.
Organised by Skipton Town Council, the Gobo projection for the war memorial has been supplied and installed by Robbie Walls at Evica Lights.
The war memorial and town hall will remain lit up until Sunday June 30.
