SETTLE will mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday, June 6 with a tribute and the lighting of a beacon at the town's war memorial.
The tribute at 9pm will be led by the Rev Julie Clarkson who will be joined by other church leaders and members of Settle Town Council.
It will be followed by the lighting of the beacon at 9.15pm, in celebration of the ‘light of peace’ that emerged out of the darkness of war.
Villages and towns across Craven will be taking part in commemorations marking the anniversary of D-Day, and remembering all those who died in the Second World War.
