CHILDREN at a Skipton nursery school are benefitting from an outside reading area and a whole new selection of books.

Brougham Street Community Nursery School has been able to add its new outdoor reading nook and buy a selection of engaging books thanks to a £2,000 grant from the Johnson and Mukherjee Charitable Trust.

Headteacher, Alison Stewart, said: "We proudly partnered with The Little Bookshop in Skipton, an esteemed local independent bookstore, to purchase the books.

"The new reading shed, will have pride of place in our nursery school playground, offering a tranquil space where our children, ranging from four months to school age, can immerse themselves in the magic of books. By investing in high-quality literature and creating a dedicated outdoor reading area, we aim to foster a love for reading and enrich our children’s educational experiences.

"This initiative not only benefits our young learners but also strengthens our ties with the local community, demonstrating our commitment to supporting local businesses like The Little Bookshop. We are excited to see the positive impact this will have on our nursery and the broader community."
