IT'S all systems go for Gargrave Open Gardens - and this year for the first time June's weekend event will raise funds for not just St Andrew's Church, but also Manorlands Hospice and Martin House children's hospice.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: "We have chosen to support these hospices because they are dear to the heart of many of the people who open their gardens. "They touch all of our lives directly or indirectly. They are such an asset to our community and we are delighted to support them. Many of us have a loved one who has benefited from hospice care, or have friends whose loved ones have been glad to receive care there."
The owners of around 25 gardens will be taking part this year, including some for the first time. There will also be live music, artists in residence, a 'quirky container' competition and refreshments at Gargrave Village Hall.
"We are looking forward to another weekend full of community spirit, when Gargrave is thronging with visitors to the gardens," added the spokesperson.
Gargrave Open Gardens takes place on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23. For updates visit gargraveopengardens.com. Advance tickets, at £6, are on sale from June 3 at Twin Locks Garden Centre or online at https://shop.standrewsgargrave.org.uk/product/open-gardens-passport. Tickets bought on the day will cost £8.
