TWO highly-acclaimed musicians and singers are heading to the area next year as part of UK tours.
Indie rocker John Power – and Mike Peters, lead singer of rock band The Alarm – will both perform at Glusburn Institute Community and Arts Centre.
John is bringing his Cast, the La’s and Me tour to the popular Colne Road venue on April 11.
He describes having "the best rock 'n' roll apprenticeship ever" when he played bass as an 18-year-old in The La’s, whose song There She Goes was cited as a founding piece of Britpop.
John formed Cast in 1991, and the band secured two platinum-selling records before it returned to the charts this year with Love Is The Call.
However, his solo career produced some of his most acclaimed work, and the show mixes stories with his best-loved songs.
John says: "I'm really looking forward to these tour dates.
"It's been a long career, from the early days in The La's, to forming Cast, releasing two platinum records and then continuing to the present with Love Is The Call.
"This tour will be a chance to tell that story, through words and songs, in intimate venues. It'll give fans the chance to get to know me – and me the opportunity to reflect on some of the most memorable moments of the past 38 years."
Mike Peters' Love, Hope, Strength one-man tour will be at Glusburn on June 7.
It will combine music with chat and audience question-and-answer sessions.
The tour coincides with the release of a self-penned multi-edition memoir, of the same name.
Debut album Declaration earned The Alarm an American tour with U2, and heralded chart hits such as Sixty-Eight Guns and Rain In The Summertime.
A multiple cancer survivor, Mike was awarded the MBE in 2019 for his services to cancer care.
Love, Hope, Strength will provide an insight into his life, not only as a rock musician but as an ambassador for cancer survivors.
He says: "I feel very fortunate to be at this point in my career and able to head out on an intimate tour. It’s a chance for me to share my favourite music and personal stories – the absolute highs, as well as the lows and everything in between."
