TICKETS have gone on sale for this year’s Silsden Proms on the Farm, with organisers hoping for a drier occasion than last year's rain-soaked event.
The annual fundraiser in aid of Manorlands Hospice and Silsden Methodist Church was a washout last year, though spirits weren’t dampened and hundreds of festival goers helped raise £5,000 for the two charities.
Preparations are entering their final stages for this year's Proms, taking place at Jackson’s field on Keighley Road on the evening of Saturday July 20.
Entertainment will be led by the award-winning Tewit Silver Band, with support from Cononley soprano April Elizabeth plus the Hot Aire Concert Band and The 1960 Four.
Attendees bring their own picnics, with gazebo spaces available to book around the venue. Prizes will again be awarded for the best-dressed gazebo and best-dressed deckchair in the arena.
Local businesses and organisations are supporting this year’s event with sponsorship as well as donating items for the charity auction, raffle and bottle stall.
Lead organiser William Jowitt said: “We’re hoping for some sunshine this year but we know from last year that, whatever the weather, people from across Silsden and the surrounding area really do come out to support this event and help us raise money for the two charities.
“This will be the 16th Silsden Proms on the Farm and our third in the new home alongside the river. We can’t wait to welcome guests for a fantastic evening of music, dancing and great company. We have people of all ages attending and it really does bring our community together each year.
“This is one of the big events in the calendar for Silsden and we hope to once again raise a decent amount of money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and Silsden Methodist Church to support the important work they do locally.”
There are still opportunities available for local businesses to provide sponsorship or donate items for the raffle and auction - get in touch via promsonthefarm.co.uk
