COMEDIAN, singer and poet Mike Harding, has brought out a book in celebration of Settle's annual flowerpot festival.
Mike, a keen photographer, has amassed a great number of images of the imaginative flowerpot installations created by the community over the years.
His book, which will raise money for local children's organisations, also includes pictures taken by Steve Amphlett and Richard Handscombe who run the annual festival.
The 64-page Settle Flowerpot Festival book is a cheerful reminder of many of the flowerpot creations and will appeal to residents as well as providing souvenirs for this year’s festival visitors who will flock to the town between July 13 and September 1.
Mike said: “The proceeds will go to local projects for children – such as the swimming pool, drama group, youth groups, school clubs or one-off projects. We like to support the young people in the area as they will be the future of the Settle community.”
Support funding from Clapham-based charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) helped to fund the Settle Flowerpot Festival commemorative book, which has been designed free of charge by Mike’s friend, designer and photographer, Bryan Ledgard, and printed by Settle business, iPrint.
Mike will be signing copies at Watershed Mill, Settle on Saturday, June 29 from 10am to 4pm.
Copies, priced £5, can be ordered online from www.visitsettle.co.uk or purchased from shops in Settle, including including Wholesome Bee, Cottontail Crafts, House That Jack Built, Truly Scrumptious, Watershed Mill and the Tourist Information Centre.
